Setting up your recording space
Preparing your recording space well is essential if you are going to make the best possible Podcast. You should try to find and prepare a suitable space where:
- There will be no interruptions from people, phones or other sources
- There is as little unnecessary external noise as possible
- Those taking part are comfortable and in easy reach of their microphones
- The computer equipment used is as quiet as possible
- The acoustics in the room are good.
Choosing your room well for acoustics is important. A large empty room will make your recording sound empty, however if this is the only type of room available you can improve the sound by using screens to cut off part of the room or even hanging sheets or other material around the recording area to reduce the echo of a larger space. The other requirements above are more easily dealt with.
