WorthBroadcasting

How to set up and distribute your podcast/vidcast with the WorthBroadcasting Podcaster tool, part 2

Creating Your Episode

Creating your episode

The next stage to a successful and effective podcast is to add your first episode. This is achieved by select "Create New Episode" from the left hand navigation menu, and then selecting a channel to add the episode to from the drop down menu presented to you. Initially, you will only have one channel to choose from, but the WorthBroadcasting podcaster allows you to broadcast more than one channel, so you may have more than one option here over time.

You will then be presented with a number of options, similar to when you created your first channel. The important things to remember here are

Creating your episode

1. Episode Title - the name of this particular episode. Make this descriptive. Calling it something like Episode 1 is hardly likely to capture imagination

2. Description - some descriptive text about this episode

3. Link - this is a link to a page that contains further information about the episode. This could be a link to an informative page on your website. If left blank, the Podcaster will default to a link to a page on the WorthBroadcasting Site with details about your broadcast.

4. Media - a podcast (or vidcast) is not a podcast without media (either an MP3 audio file or a suitable video file). Here you can select your audio file for upload to the WorthBroadcasting server.

The iTunes Options

If you had opted to configure for iTunes at the previous stage, you will be presented with a few more fields to fill in. Leave the final one checked ("Show upload status in pop-up window"), in order to be able to monitor the upload progress of your media file. Most people should be able to leave the block and explicit options at default, but if your podcast does contain swearing or more adult material (for example, in the case of some comedy broadcasts, or songs with potential "parental advisory" content, do select the appropriate setting. To not do so may result in being declined by iTunes.

Completion and Upload

Completion and upload

In order to finally complete your episode and thus have a complete podcast ready to publish, just press "Upload Files"

A new window will open showing a progress bar and some information related to the progress of the upload of your media file. Do not navigate away from this page while upload is progressing, wait until the file is fully uploaded and your podcast will be ready for publication!
